John Bromley discusses the North East’s growth as the UK’s green manufacturing hub in Property Week

The North East is experiencing strong demand for warehousing as it positions itself at the heart of the UK’s green industrial revolution.

This week, John Bromley featured in Property Week’s Markets spotlight on the North East region - see an extract below.

Other major automotive manufacturing developments are also under way. For instance, Legal & General Capital recently co-led a £23m funding round for electric vehicle motor manufacturer Advanced Electric Machines (AEM), which was originally founded as a spinout from Newcastle University and has its main production facility in Washington, near both Sunderland and Newcastle.

“The investment will be used to scale up AEM’s production capacity,” says John Bromley, managing director of clean energy strategy and investments at Legal & General Capital. “The firm has strong ambitions to be part of the region’s development as the UK’s manufacturing hub.”

The recent deals provide another boost for industrial and logistics (I&L) development in the region, which has experienced a mini-boom period.
